Why Buy Sustainable Products?

Buying Sustainable encourages organic farming which reduces our carbon footprint, saves wildlife and helps the environment. Finding sustainable products can be difficult, but making those small changes to your skin, hair and dental care can make the world of difference. Here are five everyday products that you can change to live more sustainably:

1. Soap

Our sustainable bars of soap are a great investment, they are made for washing your face, body and hair. Lots of products such as soaps, body gel, shampoo and conditioners contain non-organic palm oil which has been discovered in recent years to be a high contributor to deforestation. Therefore, it is important to use products that source from sustainable resources such as organic palm oil. Another benefit of buying sustainably sourced products is that they are more skin-friendly than mass-produced products that often contain synthetic chemicals. Soaps made with organic ingredients can maintain healthy skin and be very healing for a number of skin conditions, such as skin inflammation, milia, hormone imbalance, rosacea, blackheads, fungal infections, eczema and many more.

2. Face cream

Face creams are another important element to your skin care routine. The two main types of our face creams are light and rich, and which one you choose will depend on your skin type. An important element of keeping products sustainable is the packaging. If it is not recyclable or biodegradable then it is not environmentally-friendly. Buying larger sizes will be more cost effective and better for the environment and it is also even more sustainable if the bottles can be refilled.

3. Dental Care

Dental care is an important part of our daily routine, so products such as toothpaste and dental floss should be environmentally-friendly. Organic Toothpaste in jars are the best option, and another beneficial purchase would be an electronic or sustainable toothbrush, as brushes are a major pollutant due to their nylon bristles and plastic handles.

4. Deodorant

Commercial deodorants can be harmful not only to the environment but to your skin and body too. Conventional deodorants will normally contain synthetic chemicals that can dry-out, irritate your skin and throw-off your hormone balance. Organic deodorants are safer whether your skin is normal or sensitive, and often come in reusable/recyclable packaging such as tins or jars.

5. Sunscreen

Not everyone knows that sunscreen should be applied every day, whether it is to protect your skin from sun damage or as a makeup base. So it is important that the ingredients are organic or at least natural as whatever you put on your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream within 20 minutes.

Traditional sunscreen bottles are made from nonbiodegradable plastic and harsh chemicals are not good for your skin or the environment, especially our oceans. Organic sunscreen and aftersun are much more sustainable and better for your skin.
